In a recent interview with MMAWeekly.com, UFC welterweight champion Georges “Rush” St. Pierre discussed his upcoming bout with UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn.
“I’m a different fighter than I used to be,” he said. “And he is as well. This time, I want to take him out. I don’t want to go to a decision. I want to finish him.”
According to the report, the bout has not yet been signed but St. Pierre expects it to be within the next week or so.
Closing out the interview, St. Pierre also discussed the possibility of meeting up with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
“I think I can do pretty well (against Silva). I think I’m a different fighter than all the guys who have fought him in the past. There’s only one way to find out.”
St. Pierre is currently helping teammates Denis Kang and Patrick “The Predator” Cote prepare for their upcoming bouts on Oct. 25. Kang will be facing UFC veteran Marvin Eastman at Raw Combat while Cote battles Anderson Silva at UFC 90.
