Fickett vs. Ford for MFC Welterweight Title in July?
Written by Scott White on Sat, May 24, 2008
In a recent post on The Underground, MFC vice-president Dave Pavelich stated that Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford would be facing Drew “The Master” Fickett for the vacant MFC welterweight title. The fight hasn’t been officially announced but the potential matchup is very intriguing and will be an excellent gauge to see where Ford is at in his young MMA career.
UFC and Strikeforce veteran Drew Fickett possesses a decorated mixed martial arts record of 33-5-0. Fickett holds submission victories over the likes of Mark Weir, Kurt Pellegrino, Josh Koscheck, Josh Neer, Fabio Holanda, Carlo Prater, Nuri Shakir, and Brandon Melendez.
After putting up a record of 4-3 with the UFC, Fickett left the Las Vegas-based promotion and joined the ranks of HDNet Fights and Strikeforce. Fickett is currently riding a four fight winning streak with stoppage victories over Anthony Lapsley, Mark Weir and Jae Suk Lim.
MFC star Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford is currently one of Canada’s hottest prospects boasting an unblemished MMA record of 6-0. Ford holds victories over UFC veterans Pete Spratt and C.J. Fernandes as well as Mike Sorenson, Adil Abbas, Randy Valette, and Aaron Gallant.
