Lutter Cut from UFC

It has officially gone from bad to worse for The Ultimate Fighter 4 middleweight champion Travis Lutter. A week after being unable to submit Rich Franklin with an arm bar and eventually being stopped in the second round, Lutter has been released from his UFC contract.

He announced the departure on his MySpace page, saying that his manager had been informed of the decision in a phone message left by Joe Silva.

The 34 year old sports a 9-5 career record, with four of his losses coming in the octagon.

He earned a shot at Anderson Silva’s middleweight title after claiming the aforementioned TUF championship with a first round submission victory over Canadian Patrick Cote.

In a moment that may ultimately define his career, he was unable to make weight the 185 pound limit and wound up suffering a second round submission loss to Silva in a non-title match.

Lutter will join a gluttony of other fighters (most recently Kalib Starnes) that will be seeking new employment as the UFC continues to purge its roster.

Hey guys, as always great site, I check it every day. One small thing that I don’t like though. Your header says that you are “Your source for Canadian MMA news.” This is great, and why I come here.

But you’ve been having so much other news in here that isn’t Canadian related, that quite frankly I don’t care about. Travis Lutter cut from UFC? Who cares.

Not sure what your business model is, but there doesn’t seem to be any rationale as to what “foreign” news you include. Some days you have it all, then you miss entering a bunch of stuff.

The truth is that when I want my “foreign” news I go somewhere that has everything and has it up quickly, like Sherdog or MMAJunkie.

With complete and honest respect, you guys should stick to what you do well, and that is reporting Canadian News.
