Riggs to Fight Mike Gates; Updated PF: Street Justice Card
UFC veteran Joe “Diesel” Riggs has been signed to headline the Phoenix Fight: “Street Justice” on April 26 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His opponent will be Mike “Gates of Hell” Gates (5-3-1) and the fight will be at a catch weight of 180lbs. These two were originally scheduled to fight at a King of the Cage card back in December but weather kept Riggs from making it to the event.

not to bad of a card, I like the fact that you guys bring in higher profile named fighters for your event unlike the ECC keep up the great work!

All the good fights have been removed or changed… and Riggs dropping out last minute is complete bullshit.. he would of known that for WEEKS. I’m throwing my ticket in the garbage and NEVER attending another phoenix fight again.. this promotion is a fucking joke.
Jason, if you didn’t go it’s your loss as it was a great event. The Phoenix guys cannot help that Riggs is a mess and decided while he was at the airport in Phoenix not to get on the flight.
I went to the fight s on Saturday and was pissed that Riggs was not there.I left the before the main event and will never go again.I seen better fights at the bar later that night.I felt so ripped off it ain t funny! Now i understand why the arena was empty.
It’s unfortunate Riggs didn’t end up fighting but not really surprising. Riggs had work done on his back a few months earlier and it sounded as though they never expected him to be ready.
Also, Phoenix Fighting Promotions did a solid job landing T.J. Grant as the replacement for the ailing Riggs. Grant is currently one of Canada’s hottest welterweight prospects.
The slam that Grant did on Gates was a beautiful thing to watch….BAM!
This was a case of bad luck for Phoenix Fight. They had 3 solid fighters lined up for this card and ended up with no opponents for them and then Riggs didn’t show. I bet if TJ Grant had been on the card from day 1 this event would have had a much better turn out.
The fights that did happen were solid, no lay and pray and all were evenly matched. I’m looking forward to their next card and with Doerksen getting released from his Zuffa contract I wouldn’t be surprised to see him headline the card.
