Michael Bisping to Fight at UFC 83

Sportsnet’s “Showdown” Joe Ferraro caught up with Michael “The Count” Bisping at UFC 81 and during the course of their interview Bisping stated that he’ll be fighting at UFC 83 in Montreal, Quebec.
“I’m definitely fighting in Montreal on April 19th. I’m very, very excited to be doing that,” said Bisping. “I’ve been to Ottawa once when I was a kid but I’ve never been to Montreal and I hear it’s a beautiful city. Georges St. Pierre can’t say enough good things about it so I’m looking forward to taking a little bit of a vacation and spending some time up there afterwards.”
According to reports, Bisping’s rumored opponent is TUF 4 contestant Charles “Chainsaw” McCarthy. Personally, I’d like to see the UFC book a middleweight showdown between Patrick “The Predator” Cote and Bisping but I can understand their logic if they don’t. Not only has Cote been on a roll finishing his last three fights but he is also a huge draw in Montreal.
After spending his career at light heavyweight, April 19 will mark a crossroads for Bisping as he makes the drop to middleweight following a tough decision loss to Rashad Evans.
Charles McCarthy (10-4), a member of American Top Team, possesses a UFC record of 1-1. McCarthy is coming off a submission victory over Gideon Ray at The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale.
UFC 83 is scheduled for April 19, 2008 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. Check out our rumors section for the latest UFC 83 card.

I will have to be honest, Im not all that pumped for this fight.. I mean ya Bisping dropped to MW, but Mccarthy is a huge step down for him, they should have given Bisping a top 15 MW at least
I agree. I would rather see Bisping fight Cote but I understand the UFC not wanting to match Bisping up with Cote at this point.
Cote would have eaten him alive. Bisping has to actually develop one aspect of his game that can consistently put people away before he’s ready for top competition at any weight.
Cote is gonna be a commentator in montreal, what a slap in the face!
