TKO promoter and CEO Stephane Patry recently joined Kelsey Mowatt on Full Contact Fighter Radio to discuss TKO 31: Young Guns, UFC in Canada, and more.

Here are some interesting points from the interview:

  • They have already broken the record of the largest amount of ticket sales meaning there have been around 8,000+ tickets sold.
  • If the UFC uses the same ticket prices they use in Las Vegas, they won’t even draw 6,000 fans. If they use the prices they had in Newark, they’ll get 11-12,000.
  • If Georges St. Pierre wins at UFC 79, they’d like to have him fight Matt Serra. Also they want to book Patrick Cote, Jeff Joslin, Jonathan Goulet and Jason MacDonald.
  • Steve Bosse currently trains 6-7 days a week and is taking mixed martial arts very seriously. TKO has put a lot of work into promoting Bosse and people are now looking at him as the poster boy of the organization.
  • Chris Clements suffered a knee injury which prevented him from training so Team Tompkins decided not to take the fight. TKO decided to go with Chad Reiner (15-3) as the replacement.
  • Patry stated that Vigneault hasn’t fought in two years but during that time he continued to train and help teammates prepare for fights. Said he doesn’t feel Vigneault will have any problems physically but he may be a bit nervous fighting in front of 8-9,000 people for the first time in 2 years.
  • Bosse vs. Larenas is currently the talk of the town and the ticket sales exploded last week when Bosse and Larenas met in the ring at a local boxing event and provided the crowd with an excellent stare down.
  • When asked who was carrying the pay-per-view Patry stated that the event would be available on Express View, Viewers Choice, Shaw, Star Choice, everybody, every pay-per-view carrier in the country. Also it will be available on RDS, the Quebec version of TSN, and The Fight Network.
  • Patry hinted at potential TV deal saying, “It’s also going to be available somewhere else but I can’t really talk about it right now but there is some huge things coming up shortly about our February card. But preluding the February card is going to be a showcase on the TKO 31 card on a new network but I can’t say much for now.”
