Jackson Discusses St. Pierre Victory

Steve Cofield of ESPN radio caught up with Greg Jackson, Georges St. Pierre’s coach, following St. Pierre’s submission victory over Matt Hughes at UFC 79: Nemesis. Jackson discussed a variety of subjects including St. Pierre’s mental game and training camp.

“I don’t know if the mental thing was ever a huge issue. I think he had to learn his lesson. I think that he needed to learn that I can’t go out and party before a fight. I need to take each fight seriously and he needed to learn that lesson. It’s better sooner then later. As far as him evolving, he’s still evolving, he’s still continuing to evolve and get better and better. I mean, I think you’re going to see next fight an even better Georges St. Pierre.”

“Because we took this fight on short notice, we all went up to Montreal which is one of my favorite places on God’s green earth, I love Montreal. So we spent some time up there, I sent my whole camp up there and we basically had camp up in Montreal in addition to his other coaches.”
